Our Services
Hip to gable loft conversions are designed for properties with hipped roofs, where the roof slopes on the side as well as the front and back. By extending the side roof up to form a vertical gable wall, we create extra headroom and usable space within the loft. This can then be combined with rear dormers or rooflights to form generous bedrooms, ensuites, or multifunctional rooms.
These conversions are particularly popular in 1930s semis and similar homes where the existing loft is too cramped for a straightforward conversion. We assess the structure, design the new gable, and coordinate all structural and weathering details. Planning permission may or may not be required depending on the scale and local rules; we advise on the correct route. Our team handles construction from structural alterations and roof tiling through to insulation, windows, staircase, and interiors.
Unlocks loft space in homes with hipped roofs where standard conversions struggle.
Creates more headroom and floor area than many simpler loft conversion types.
Works especially well in semi-detached and detached properties common around London.
Offers excellent scope for sizeable bedrooms, en-suites, and even dressing areas.
Can be paired with rear dormers or rooflights to gain even more usable loft space.
Provides significant extra floor area and value without increasing the building footprint at ground level.
